Frequently Asked Questions

How The Initial Consultation Works

Your first session is a calm, confidential space to begin exploring what has led you to seek support. As part of this initial consultation, we’ll discuss the issues that brought you to therapy, as well as any wider professional or personal pressures that may be influencing your emotional well-being.

This meeting offers a chance to reflect on what you hope to gain from the process, whether greater clarity, improved balance or deeper self-understanding. It also allows us to determine whether private psychotherapy in London or ongoing confidential counselling feels right for you and how we might best structure our work together.

How Often Will We Meet?

Sessions typically take place once a week at a regular time, offering continuity and the stability needed to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship. This consistent rhythm allows the work to deepen and evolve at a natural pace.

For clients with demanding or unpredictable schedules, consultation hours can occasionally be adjusted to accommodate professional commitments or travel. When additional support feels necessary, extra sessions can be arranged by mutual agreement.

All sessions are confirmed in advance, with payment required 48 working hours before each appointment.

Confidentiality

To ensure therapy remains a safe and trusted space, all sessions are entirely confidential. Your privacy is treated with the utmost seriousness and respect. Confidentiality is maintained at all times, except in exceptional circumstances where there is significant concern for your safety or the safety of others. In such rare situations, for example, if there is a risk of serious harm, concerns about the welfare of a child or if disclosure is required by law, I have a professional and legal duty to act appropriately. Should this ever arise, we would discuss the situation together and agree on the most responsible next steps.

I adhere to the ethical and professional standards set out by both the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), ensuring the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism and care.

Online and Telephone sessions

If more convenient, therapy can also take place online or by telephone. Many clients find that these formats offer greater flexibility and accessibility, particularly for those with demanding schedules or frequent travel.

Online psychotherapy sessions are conducted securely via reputable platforms, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality are fully maintained. Telephone counselling sessions are also available for clients who prefer the simplicity and discretion of speaking by phone.

Whether meeting in person or remotely, the quality and depth of the work remain the same, offering a consistent, supportive space for reflection and growth.

Cancellation and Missed Sessions

Therapy is most effective when sessions are attended regularly, as consistency supports a sense of stability and progress in the work. However, I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 WORKING HOURS. Cancellations made with less notice, including those due to illness, work commitments or emergencies are chargeable at the full session fee. This ensures that your reserved time remains available for you and cannot be allocated to another client at short notice.

Your regular appointment time is held exclusively for you, reflecting the commitment and continuity that are central to the therapeutic process.

Health Insurance

Some clients choose to fund therapy through their private health insurance. While most insurance providers do not cover the full session fee, partial reimbursement may be possible depending on your policy.

If you believe your insurance plan may contribute toward the cost of private psychotherapy, please get in touch to discuss the options. I’m happy to provide any necessary documentation or receipts to support your claim.

Payment

Sessions can be booked directly through this website or arranged via bank transfer. All payments are requested 48 working hours prior to each session, ensuring your appointment is reserved and the time is dedicated exclusively to you.

This straightforward process helps maintain the professionalism and discretion that are central to the therapeutic relationship.

Submit your feedback. Your experience matters. Feedback helps ensure that therapy remains effective, supportive, and tailored to your needs. If you would like to share your thoughts on your sessions or the booking process, please feel free to submit your feedback confidentially. All responses are treated with care and respect, and your privacy is fully maintained.
